HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Image
Happy Halloween my friends!! As some of you might not know yet, halloween is my favorite holiday. Shocking! We'll as a missionary, there are many things we aren't allowed to do to celebrate halloween. We can't go to haunted houses, the mission president had to approved if we can carve pumpkins, and the saddest one of all, we can't wear costumes. Period. Well, luckily I planned for this in advance so these are the things I have been doing to celebrarte halloween as a missionary! 1) We found these apartments at the edge of our area and we got to walk through a graveyard. It was so much fun! We found tombstones of names of friends and missionaries in the mission. I found Larsen, the Holleys (our mission president) of course Smith, and one named Davis. The last one was funny because he's our district leader and when we dhowed him He looked up the name in his family tree and he's related to the tombstone! 2) We had a Ward halloween party and we may have been on the l...

What To Do When You Get Asked Out

Well my friends, I'm sorry if I scared you about my back. I am getting a bit better! I was able to walk for 30 minutes today! So to explain the title of my email, we have 2 friends that we have been teaching, one is named Hector and the other one is Jeldren. Unfortunately, it might just be the personality that I have where I am just really nice to people and charity is not something that I lack in the attributes of Christ that I strive to obtain, and some people are drawn to it. We took Hector to the Tabernacle (and Jeldren, whose 19, came along) and as president Myers was explaining what sealings are in the temple. He said that sealing are a special commitment in the temple where husband and wife can live together for eternity. In that moment, Jeldren turned his head and looked straight at me! it was so uncomfortable. Jeldren is getting taught by the YSA elders so hopefully he can join their activities soon. Later that week we saw Hector again. Hector is in his 30's maybe 40...

Maybe Too Serious In Missionary Work

Image
Hello everybody! Bienvenida! This week has been incredibly frustrating but it has been growing me more as a missionary and I can start to see why now how certain things happen. We got followed again… We were on 25th and Monroe at around 7:30 which is around the time the sun went down and as we were on our way home, we heard a SNAP and we looked behind us and saw a man that was following us. We walked faster and eventually we lost his trail. Then we walked past a family that whispered "sister missionaries" and immediately after we passed him we stop dead in our tracks, and see a half dressed lady who was not walking straight, speaking profanities at everything. Not really knowing what to do, the family that we just passed asked us if we needed a ride. Boom! blessing!!  At the last p-day, I got a back injury. Well, the back injury hasn't gotten any better and so we haven't been able to go and walk on the streets right now. We have to ask members for rides to our lessons...

Lessons In J2

Good morning everyone! I hope you know that God is listening to you and loves you a lot <3  Today has been a really hard week and I have seen some miracles as well! This week was transfer week and I had to say goodbye to my trainer. She is going to Brigham city so I won't get to talk to her or ask her any questions. My new companion is Sister Smith! She is from Florida and loves books but really does hate Halloween and walking on sketchy streets.  There was a lot of things that I had to learn to adjust to, like we only use lamps in the house right now, if I make treats they have to have little oil in it,  we are going to get bikes so that we don't have to ask for rides and so it doesn't take forever to walk. The hardest thing was that as it took my companion 3 days to get her stuff in place here, I had to plan I spent over 15 hours in the past 2 days contacting people for a Baptism and I felt like a texting missionary with absolutely nothing getting done.  But ami...

I Am Officially Catwoman Now

Image
Buenas Tardes y'all! This week has been fantastic!  We had a wedding this week for Karla and Ruben and it was so cute and pretty! The ward did so much for them. They got a free venue to have their wedding (I was drooling because I aspire to have a venue to do that in the future), the food was provided by the members, the Myers even got Karla and Ruben a dress and a suit to get married in! This Ward is such a blessing and a great help to our friends.   The title - we had a member lesson and this tabby cat jumped on the couch next to me and I was petting it and out of nowhere the cat grabs my arm and bites my hand. No blood was drawn but it hurt. So I am officially catwoman now I am getting a new companion this Tuesday! Her name is Hermana Smith and she was in my district! This is going to be a good lesson from me because she is pretty opposite than I am. She also hates this area because she is terrified of Halloween and there are apparently a lot of Halloween decorations i...
