Lessons In J2
Good morning everyone! I hope you know that God is listening to you and loves you a lot <3
Today has been a really hard week and I have seen some miracles as well! This week was transfer week and I had to say goodbye to my trainer. She is going to Brigham city so I won't get to talk to her or ask her any questions. My new companion is Sister Smith! She is from Florida and loves books but really does hate Halloween and walking on sketchy streets.
There was a lot of things that I had to learn to adjust to, like we only use lamps in the house right now, if I make treats they have to have little oil in it, we are going to get bikes so that we don't have to ask for rides and so it doesn't take forever to walk. The hardest thing was that as it took my companion 3 days to get her stuff in place here, I had to plan I spent over 15 hours in the past 2 days contacting people for a Baptism and I felt like a texting missionary with absolutely nothing getting done.
But amidst all of the confusion and tears and difficult times, revelation came and miracles happened. I realized that every companionship ministers in a different way like Jesus Christ. For me and Hermana Arriagada, we ran and preached to the masses and tried to find everyone as fast as we could. For Hermana Smith, she slows WAY down and and ministers individually. I know now that in both ways, Heavenly Father still blesses our efforts no matter different or painfully slow they are. So our companionship wasn't the difficult thing, it's usually just adjusting to missionary life. I make up the physical strength in the companionship, and she makes up for the mental toughness in the companionship. She is good at stating the facts and stating clear principles of the gospel, and I am good at the feeling side, relating these principles to their own lives and making sure that they are loved and heard and understood. She is good at teaching object lessons and teaching kids, I am good at teaching adults. And there is more I am going to learn about our new companionship!
Plus, I can see too that as we take more time to speak to those that speak English, miracles happen there too!! We found 5 new people to teach and had a recent Baptism for Kerla and Ruben! It was amazing because I decided to give a "Bienvenida" or welcome speech to them and I just started tearing up because I am so grateful that they made that decision together and it reminded me of my parents making the decision to be in the gospel together. As I was sharing this in Spanish, I started tearing up because the Spirit was really strong and the rest of the congregation started to feel it too and started to tear up. Even Presidente Ruiz started to as well! That one shocked me because he is generally a very macho, Latino man and it like our mission president for the Spanish speaking missionaries.
I got a back injury last night and I'm going to have a difficult time walking so if you can keep me in your prayers this week I appreciate it :)
Keep going! You got this! I believe in you and if you need the power of Jesus Christ to help you, then you can ask him and do things that draw closer to him! He loves, and he loves you. God has a beautiful plan for you :)
