HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Happy Halloween my friends!!

As some of you might not know yet, halloween is my favorite holiday. Shocking! We'll as a missionary, there are many things we aren't allowed to do to celebrate halloween. We can't go to haunted houses, the mission president had to approved if we can carve pumpkins, and the saddest one of all, we can't wear costumes. Period. Well, luckily I planned for this in advance so these are the things I have been doing to celebrarte halloween as a missionary!

1) We found these apartments at the edge of our area and we got to walk through a graveyard. It was so much fun! We found tombstones of names of friends and missionaries in the mission. I found Larsen, the Holleys (our mission president) of course Smith, and one named Davis. The last one was funny because he's our district leader and when we dhowed him He looked up the name in his family tree and he's related to the tombstone!

2) We had a Ward halloween party and we may have been on the lines of costume. You know how adults wear cute Disney outfits but can't actually dress up as a disney character? We did the similat thing. We think our outfits were definitely missionary appropriate. You can decide, my companion was Alice and I was Wednesday Addams.

3) we got to carve pumpkins today for our zone activity. It was a blast!

I have a scary story for you guys. This happened this week and we look back at it and laugh now. So we were on splits with Hermana Evangelista (so 3 of us were walking and talking) and we found a hidden street in our area and we were 80% sure that one or a couple of those houses would have people that speak Spanish. So we go to the left corner house of this street and we start walking up to the door and we see caution tape and spiderwebs. Normal, right? It's halloween. Then, as the Hermanas were just about to knock the door, they notice that there are a bunch of numbers carved into the door like a horror movie. Then I gasp! The Hermanas step back and ask me what's going on and I pointed to the number on the door: 666. So we decide this is NOT a good idea so we step away from the house and Hermana Smith asked if we can pray. As Hermana Smith was praying, me and Hermana Evangelista looked up because we heard 2 cars pulling in on either side of the street and THEY WERE POLICE CARS!! So 4 policemen get out of their cars, pass by the three of us and head straight to the house we were about to knock and we decide to book it out of there as fast as a sister missionary can because in my head I thought that they were about to do a drug bust. So that's the end of the story. Luckily nobody was following us lol

Elder and Sister Heiner are the sweetest people in the world. They are English service missionaries assigned to our ward and they are so sweet. Brother Heiner extended the invitation to me that if I come back to Utah that I am welcome in their home at any time. They found out that I re-injured my back this week (because I desired my sanity rather than a dirty house) and they made this rice pack that covers my entire back and to my shoulders to heat and freeze so that my back can heal. It's so amazing and I am still at a loss of words to say how grateful I am for their love.

This week, I have discovered that Grace is a very important attribute of christ to work on. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

We were having a difficult "miracle time" this week as we were out knocking. As my companion stopped to tie her shoe I decided to say a prayer and ask heavenly father for help. I asked him to help us find someone that needs our help. So we walked on a different street than normal and a man passed by us and said "Hola!" And we were started because he did not look like a Latino and we said "Hola! Cómo están?" And he kept walking. But then he stopped, turned around and then asked us if we knew where the food kitchens are. We started talking and he used to talk to the missionaries in a different part in Utah, and he is interested in having lessons with us!! I just want to bear testimony that miracles do happen.

Another miracle - Mario and Dora went to church!! At first they were like, well we can't go unless we both decide to go, and then they realized that there was no reason NOT to go to church and honestly I would love to adopt that attitude too. There is no reason not to go to church y'all!

That's all this week. Thank you for your prayers I'm surviving on a string at the moment because I am waiting for a change in medications soon so “I'm waiting on the world to change”

I miss y'all!
