La Feria
Hey! So I decided to log my week day by day so that I can see what my email looks like without me trying to remember the whole week.
I went to English class and I was able to apologize to them. They told me that they told me that because they had confidence in me and knew that I had a heart open enough to hear it. "Each of us has the choice to speak words of life or death" Francisco said. I've been pondering a lot about that sentence.
We ran into a lady that gave us the reference to a house that spoke Spanish. She found out that the husband came out and said he was not interested and so she felt embarrassed and kind of sad she couldn't be of help. But I shared a Scripture in Hebrews 6:10 "For God is not unrighteous, therefore he will not forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister". And I testified that her effort has not gone unnoticed and that she was planting a good seed.
We went to the Fair and it was bigger than any state fair that I've ever seen! There were probably about 5,000 people there (maybe more) and it was an interesting experience for me because when I walked in, I just wanted to go and find latinos and start talking to people. There was a lot of them over there. I couldn't really relax. And it's also hard because I have to speak english first and then spanish so they don't get offended when I go up to them and start speaking Spanish. We got a call from our STL after we went twice telling us that we are not allowed to be on the grounds...period. whoops!
Someone asked me if I had something exotic to eat here on the mission, and up to that time I didn't. But then we had this member meal and he told me after I ate this what looked like to be a ground beef stir fry that it was Yak. It was soooo good! I also had some pozole too.
We went to the temple as a Zone this week and it was... really a life-changing experience. My experience was really sacred to me but I can testify that I have been cleaned by the power of Christ's Atonement and my past has been buried. I feel different after I walked out of the Temple. I learned a lot of Cool things when reading Romans 5&6 too.
Another cool lesson we had was with our friend Maria. We taught the plan of Salvation to her and when we gave her a Book of Mormon she clutched it in her arms and said "Thank you. I know that this will being the peace I need for me and my son". She was so awesome!!
For the rest of our teaching pool... I am kind of starting to worry about them. A lot of the Mothers that we are teaching are getring help back from being baptized by their husbands. We are going to try to talk to their husbands and see if they will be willing to hear the message of the gospel.
Have a great week!
