Rango
Buenos Días mis amigos!
I am back in the Valle Hermoso ward! Which means beautiful valley. And I agree it is beautiful. I love it here.
We have (as in the elders) have been teaching Alex and Noe for a looong time and had been invited to be baptized amny times before, but Noe's Seminary teacher came in for the win and helped him feel ready to take this new step. But the obstacle that they faced is that his parents said no to Alex so we are going to be working our tails off so that we can set a baptismal date soon for both of them.
Okay so to be honest this week has been a big reflection period for me. So basically I don't know if you have seen Rango, but I have to give a recap so that you can understand what I am going to say. So in Rango, there is this lizard and his box gets shattered into a million pieces. He stumbles into town and when people ask him who he is, he days he is Rango and he starts telling stories (that he totally made up) and people saw him as a hero. Well then Rattlesnake jake comes in, is a terror to the town and picks him up and says "you are nothing. You should tell them the truth and leave this town." And at this point Rango wants to run. He wants to quit. But what does he do? He starts becoming what he said and eventually saves the town from this dangerous person. Well my friends, I am Rango. Last transfer, I wanted to run and quit. I was stressed out of my mind and pushed to limits where I didn't think that I could do what I chose to do when I got my misison call. But my friends, I know that this is where the Lord needs me to be. And I want to become the instrument he needs me to be. To start, I am going to be a self-reliant Hermana Vestel. I have spent almost a year depending on my companions and... I realize now that it's been hurting my companions. Because they were carrying 1.5 loads! So it's not going to be easy for me, but I really want this. So this transfer I am embracing the "Rango" vibe and doing it.
We had a meeting with President Peck (the stake president hosting our spanish ward who is from Buena Vista, Virginia!) about well missionary business items. An activity was brought up that another stake wants to invite our ward and he asked the question "In what meeting does this need to be taked about? Who has the right to recieve the revelation for this activity?" Because the truth is there are people that have callings for that specific purpose and if the problem only is solved in Leadership, then those people assigned to those callings don't really matter. So I learned that with every business item that is discussed in a leadership meeting, we have to make sure that whoever is supposed to be assigned to that item is brought to them because that is how the order works.
Other thoughts that had passed through my head this week:
1) I just found out that USU is in our mission
2) You have to walk a ton more in car share areas than walking areas
3) Me and Hermana Groves have been together in the dead of the winter and now soon the horrible heat of the summer. I am so not excited for the mosquitos
4) For all missionaries that can only use Sacred music as their music drive: go to the british pageant music and play the song: "#11 - Apostles Arrival" It's so good
5) Logan traffic is terrible! It's like destin traffic in Niceville roads or Springfield traffic to Jacksonville roads. I am convinced if they just had left turn green arrows that lasted a while, the traffic problems would dissapear
6) Spring is wierd here. Highs are like 60's and lows are like the 40's. Somehow I have some florida bones in me and I am still cold in that weather
