Happy New Year! (Ukelele Strum)
Happy New year!
I hit my 7 month mark!
Surprise, I am actually transferring to my new area today. Me and my companion got sick on Sunday night and we had to stay in our apartment and recover for 5 days. I was getting a bit stir crazy. I had a lot of thoughts in my head about leaving my area, trying to keep calm about it and put it on the hands of the lord. I did wish I could have ripped the bandaid off and left when I could. But, because I spent that extra time in my first area, I got to have a very special experience.
On Sunday Night we went to go and say goodbye to Isabel Lopez. She is an inactive member who has kids that are interested in the gospel. We gave her the news that I was leaving..... and she stopped and processed it, and started tearing up and then cried. She said "why do you have to go?" "It's just that you have brought us so much love and peace to me and to my kids in this house". And then I remembered teaching Carlos how to pray and him getting excited to see us every time and we switched drawings (I got a picture of his version of Jesus) and I drew a roblox version of him with a shirt that said I love Jesus. I started to cry too. For my entire mission I had been working firmly believing that all of these miracles are because of Christ and this gospel is his message and all of the miracles are because of him. But I had never known that I made an impact on someone else's life so personally and individually. All I ever wanted is to make someone feel loved, and she did. She felt loved. She knew that I cared about her. I feel worth it. I feel whole. I feel like I got to fulfill my purpose. I can't explain to you how much joy that I felt from that experience.
So that's the big part of the week! The gang fell off date for Baptism because they need to work on issues with the word of wisdom, but we are working with them and I have high hopes that they will be baptized in their next area in Arizona.
Do you have any new years resolutions? Let me know! For me I want to learn about my Savior, Jesus Christ more.
Adios! Until next week!
Hermana Vestel
