Worth It
Hello guys!
I used to do this thing where when someone asks where I'm from I just name a different state that I lived (it's nice because I have 13 to choose from) but I'm getting tired of it and I think I'm going to stick to Virginia. We visited this house with a member family and she had this picture of a tree with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground and I immediately knew it was Virginia and in that moment, the only thing I could hear was the sound of the Virginia snow falling in the evening. It was really awesome. Virginia is definitely where my heart is (sorry Mom and Dad I love you!)
Speaking of the house with the tree photo, every wall in the house had something that reminded you of christ. She wanted to make the home similar to the temple and you can feel the same spirit in the house as the temple. So, my invitation to you is to put a picture of christ on your bathroom mirror or your fridge to remind you of Jesus Christ and his love for you.
Utah is so sketchy it's hilarious! We walked down one street and these were the comments made by the people had from the interactions with:
1) "if you want to do service for us you could buy us some steaks."
2) *she walks up to me and completely ignores my companion* "Do you want to pet my cat?" *pets cat* "It's ferral. We just found him on the street" *immediately washes my hands*
3) "Do you want some Beer?"
And then we talked to a member family in our stake that takes casual trips to Africa and walks their goat along the street. It's so crazy
Unfortunately, Hernando was not baptized this week. He needs to find a different job so he can make it to church and actually have a lesson with us. But we still have hope! He will have an opening sometime. There are always going to be hard parts of the mission and it sometimes is different for different people. For me, it happened this sunday. We called and invited 6 people to church, knocked on their doors, gave them directions, and made sure that they said yes. None came. All of them worked, except for Marta Bedoya. She walked to church by herself! She's 91! Seeing Marta show up was a great sign for me that said "everything is ok. You are not a bad missionary. You did everything you could do."
Transfer week is this week! (That's where missionaries move around to different areas or sometimes not) We got the transfer board late last night and it felt like you were waiting to see who won America's got talent. It was the best!
Let me leave you off with my favorite quote this week: "We signed up for this life not because we thought it would be easy, we chose it because we knew it would be worth it"
Love you guys! Keep smiling!
