"The Quirks Of Ogden"
Hello friends! God loves you!
I had my first zone conference this week and it was so awesome! I got to play a musical number with a cello that a family let me borrow! The owner of the cello is on his mission right now so they asked me if I can put it to good use. It was so awesome!
But the coolest part about the zone conference was that we got to learn and go inside a life size replica of what the Tabernacle in the old testament looked like. It is crazy how similar it is to our Temples in the fact that all things point to christ, and you have to make higher covenants with the lord to be able to enter into the more sacred areas of both places. It's going to make a trip here to Ogden in september and it's going to be a great opportunity to invite everyone to come and see!
I've been having this recurring thought that had been bugging me for a while and it was this: "Why do I need to repent? I haven't committed a serious sin" But in reality, I always need to repent. Sinning in one definition is turning away from God. In that sense there are a lot of times where I have turned away from God. I am not a perfect person. I know that. But it is so necessary to change and repent so I can refocus my attention to God and come back to Heavenly Father's presence. There are so many things we have to overcome and let God prevail in our lives and it's a lifelong process of changing and repenting! But the thing is too, repentance should never be embarrasing. Repentance is a freedom from the pains you feel being tied down by the chains of sin. Jesus Christ is the only one who has the power to give you spiritual healing and help you lose the pains of remembering your sins. Just drop your nets and follow him. He will do everything in his power to keep you on the path if you let him.
I'm reading this Book called "the divine gifts of forgiveness" by Neil l anderson and I am finally starting to understand how the atonement works! It is really changing the way I invite others to come unto christ.
On another note I've been putting my art skills to good use! The mission president's wife asked me to make their mission logo! I'll show you guys what it look like once it's done <3 Also i've been making these origami pass along cards that look like elder shirts. Let me know if anyone wants the plans to make them!
I have taken so many pictures of the most random things I have seen in my area of Ogden and I'd thought i'd show you a few:
1. There is a full size Elvis poster that changes rooms in the house every week
2. This random painting.... I have mixed emotions about it
3. This woman keeps her halloween decorations all year! They are two - 10 feet skeletons in the front of her yard with t-shirts on them
4. This sailboat in the round window
5. This is my favorite sticker. It says "keep Ogden sketchy" and has the neighborhood watch logo on it
So my invitation to you is to go outside and notice the little quirks of your area and enjoyable God's Creations! Remember, he made food taste super good for us so that we can have joy :)
